ABOUT Gordon D Smith
Gordon D Smith is a Vancouver Island artist working in charcoal, graphite, pastel, oil and acrylic. He has a background in graphic design, life drawing, figurative painting, computer graphics and business management.
Gord studied fine art and graphic design at Douglas College and graduated with an Associate in Graphic and Communication Arts diploma. He applied his visual communication skills to private business and government, recently retiring from the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure as manager of web design and the BC Highwaycam program. Gord is currently an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) Victoria Chapter. His work has appeared in juried shows and has garnered awards in FCA Exhibitions. While he explores various subject matter, he prefers to classify his artwork as "genre” painting — portraying people involved in work or regular day-to-day activities. |
